Correct make up application for your face shape

Your face shape will affect how you apply make up as you might want to enhance or diminish certain features.

Oval face shape - this is seen as the perfect face shape as its neither to wide nor to long and is in proportion. You wouldn't need any corrects to the face shape but you could use a highlighter/shader to enhance your natural features.

Long face shape - As the face is longer rather than wider, the idea is to rebalance the face by reducing the length and increasing the width. This can be achieved by applying shader at the forehead and chin  and highlighter at the sides of the face.

Square face shape - The jawline is prominent and the widest parts of the face are the temples and jaw. To rebalance this face shape, apply shader to the widest parts of the face. Avoid highlighter.

Heart shaped face - This shape has a wider forehead than jawline, to rebalance, apply shader at the temples to reduce the width and highlighter along the jawline to increase the width of the jawline.

Round face shape - This face shape can appear slightly wider. To rebalance and give the appearance of a longer face apply highlighter down the forehead to the nose and shader to the sides of the face.

Diamond face shape - This face shape is unite angular so to rebalance the shape apple shader to the forehead and chintz reduce the length. To diminish any angles, apply shader to the centre point at the sides of the face. You could also add highlighter above and beneath these centre points at the sides of the face to creat width where the face is at its most narrow.

Correct Eyebrow Shape For Your Face Type.

The eyes are said to be the window to the soul, so naturally you would want to ensure they look their best at all times and there are plenty of ways to assist with this.

Before shaping your eyebrows you want to consider your face shape, you can do this by looking in the mirror and studying your face and eye to determine the best eyebrow shape to frame your eyes and enhance your facial features.

Long face

The ideal eyebrow shape for this face is almost straight to divide the length of the face, draw attention across the face and give the illusion of width. the brow should be medium thickness, tapering slighting at the outer corner.

Square face

The ideal eyebrow shape for the face is a smooth tapering arch to create the illusion of softer features. brows should be of even thickness.

Heart shaped face

The ideal eyebrow shape for the face is an arched brow that tapers of at the outer edges, and is neither too thin or too thick to create balance.

Round face

The ideal eyebrow shape for this face is a high angular arch to create extra length and detract from the roundness of the face. the brow should be thicker  at the inner corner.

Diamond shaped face

the ideal eyebrow shape for this face is a curved brow with a high arch at the outer corners, this creates the illusion of softening to the face's angular features.

Get a flawless and natural finish... with the correct make-up brushes !!

Make up brushes - It is important you know which make up brushes are designed to apply each make up product so you can get a flawless and natural finish.

Concealer brush

This brush provides even coverage of imperfections and blemishes and is best suited for blending colour correctors, use in light patting and pressing motion rather then stroking.

Foundation brush

This brush gives even coverage and a flawless make-up base. This brush is similar to the concealer brush only much thicker and larger to allow you to cover a wider area.

Powder brush

Made from either synthetic or natural bristles, however personally I prefer natural bristles as I feel it picks up just the right amount of product to give an even natural finish.

Blusher brush

looks very similar to a powder brush only half the size, it is designed to apply powder blush to the cheeks.

Fan Brush

Prefect for dusting on powder highlights to the top of the cheekbones.

Eyeshadow brush

The largest of the eye brushes you will use. This brush is usually style in a flat shape for blending in the eye area.

Eye contour brush

this brush is much smaller than the Eyeshadow brush and is designed to fit into the crease of the eye to add definition.

Eyeliner brush

This is a thin brush with a small number of bristles for the application of liquid eyeliner.

Eyebrow brush
An angled brush used to define the eyebrows

Lip brush

Often made with sable bristles for even coverage, desgined to apply lipstick and gloss to the entire lip area.

Improve your make-up skills !!

Make-up is a very creative service either to yourself or to a client. This means it is important to be able to practice your skills and try out new make-up designs, as this allows you to show your creative and artist flair. Many beauty therapist are afraid of providing make-up services for this reason, and I was one off these therapist untill I deserved make-up designs sheets.
Use these as much as you like and try out whatever it is that you wish and see what you can create. You can easily print out as many copy's as you like from google images. Good luck and look out for more make-up tips on correct make-up to fit different face shapes, concrlealers, foundations, powders, eyeshadows, eyeliners, mascaras, cheek products, bronzers, lip products and make-up brushes.

Personal appearance

It is important to display a high standard of personal presentation while training and working as a beauty therapist. This doesn't mean you have to pile yourself in make up and have big bold beautiful hair, however whether we like it or not, we are always judged by people on our appearance as it is the first thing we notice about each other. This is a strong thing in beauty as your clients will always judge you as they look at us the beauty therapists for guidance on how to look after themselves. Personally the word appearance to me means looking healthy. Every 3 to 5 days I will have a full pamper day, which I would advice to everyone not just people entering the beauty industry. For me this includes a face scrub and face mask for healthy looking skin, a basic manicure or just a file and paint to maintain a clean fresh look, a full bubble bath soak and checking over your eyebrows to create the finished look.
